Hoffman Brickworks
Below is a small editorial of the Hoffman Brickworks in Brunswick.
The Hoffman Brickworks dates back to the 1840's. It was an important part of Melbourne's history. Two of the remaining kilns are on the Victorian Heritage Register.

The site where Kiln 1 used to be. It was destroyed to make way for a housing development. The chimney is all that remains.
Underneath one of the two the kilns.

Rubbish that was left there from the housing development where kiln 1 used to be.

Also left over was paperwork from the offices when Nubrik owned the brickworks. Amongst the papers found were annual leave forms, purchase orders and employee records with names and addresses.

A good example of the brickwork. These kilns were made in 1859 and each brick was laid by hand.

As I was about to leave I found a makeshift bed and an old couch. Someone has made one of the kilns their home.
